I am Gary D. Kennedy

You ask what or how I can make a difference?

Because I feel strongly about our great country and the freedom that we enjoy but not without pausing and honoring those that shed their blood for that freedom.  We must never forget 12/7/41 (Pearl Harbor) or 9/11/01 (Twin Towers). Today our freedom and constitution are both being tested.  They will prevail.

Let me start by saying that I am a hands-on person (not a public speaker!). Give me a direction and I will do everything in my power to see it to completion.  My track record can vouch for that.

I have managed a local government for 20 years. I have a balanced budget,  I have submitted 3 different legislative bills to the US Congress and have had them passed to public laws - each having significant impact to those that I serve. One has a significant importance throughout the West.  I have also headed up an appropriations request for $8.6 million to rehabilitate a Federal Bureau of Reclamation project. We have just been approved for the 1st of many years at $1.75 million.

In order to get the legislation passed, I spent a lot of time visiting our representatives in D.C. My district decided rather than hire a lobbyist that we needed to do it as a grass roots effort and we disagree with the influence lobbyists have on our representatives. My experiences varied from Colorado representative offices being open and welcoming, going the extra mile to accommodate Colorado residents. At other Colorado offices, the number of possible votes for the incumbent was more important than the project; or, having ones name first was more important. I was taken by surprise that the attitude of the representative was very much reflected in their staff. In some offices the staff was too busy; even to the point of rude. No matter what party, you and I are paying the wages.

To start with I would push to see that every bill that moves through the State would have to pass on its own merit.

Budget – Each and every department must be audited and the inefficiencies identified and dealt with.

This list goes on and on and that is one way to start get the budget in check.

Adding or creating new programs/positions increase the federal budget which increases taxes.

  • The Constitution must be observed.
  • Individual rights must be respected.
  • Water is one of the most valuable resources that Colorado has and we need to protect it and its uses.
  • Government must stay out of private enterprises.
  • We need to remember – GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE – FOR THE PEOPLE – BY THE PEOPLE.
  • I believe in term limits –
  • Health care – The Government needs to leave free enterprise alone.  Let competition back into the country so small business may grow.
This list is never ending but not impossible.

But we have to start somewhere.
  • I am interviewing for this job! I believe that career politicians and attorneys lose sight of the working people and are influenced by lobbyist as well as corporations.
  • I am asking you the people of the 59th District to hire me, that means that I work for each of you.
  • I have to report to as well as answer to you.
  • As you get to know me you will know what I stand for. I will not compromise my principals.
  • I believe it is the vote that should elect the person to office not the money.
  • I hope that you will at least give me a chance.
  • I ask that you open my web site for more information www.kennedyforsenate.com.
Read the information above as the values and needs of this community of which I hold true to myself, my family and the Colorado 59th House of Representatives seat for which I run for.
